CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour Roars Into NBIS Saturday Night
Geary, NB (August 3, 2006) – The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour will make the second of two stops at New Brunswick International Speedway (NBIS) in Geary on Saturday, August 5.
John Flemming (Halifax, NS) carries a slim 18-point lead in the CARQUEST championship point race over Brad Mann (Glen Livet) entering the seventh stop on the 11 event tour. Gordie Ryan (Wellington, NS) is another 20 points back. Wayne Smith (Timberlea, NS) and Kent Vincent (Crapaud, PE) round out the top five in points. Just 106 markers separate the top five spots.
Flemming is the series only two-time champion, having earned titles in 2002 & 2003. Smith is the series inaugural champ (2001). 2004 series champ Shawn Tucker (Fredericton) won teh 2005 version of this race at NBIS.
Mann won the most recent race on the series, July 22 event at Raceway Park in PEI, and is expected to be strong at NBIS, the track where he has earned several pro stock divisions championships.
The EIT Race Radio Rookie of the Year race is also a tight affair with Russell Smith (Lakeside, NS) leading Bobby Nielsen (Vernon River, PE) by 38 points. Smith and Nielsen have combined to capture each Rookie of the Race award in the six events completed to date. Chasing these two are Sandy Livingston (Springhill, NS), Mike Stevens (Riverview) and Roger Crane (Montague, PE).
Racing action begins at 7 PM Saturday night; Time Trials are set for 6:10 PM. This is the final stop for 2006 at NBIS for the CARQUEST Tour.

The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour is operated by Maritime Pro Stock Tour Limited and features an 11-race series at five different tracks in the three Maritime Provinces.
