Centre For Speed Next Stop for CARQUEST Tour

Shediac, NB (July 11, 2006) – The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour makes its first stop of the 2006 season at Center For Speed in Shediac this Saturday for the Parts For Trucks 100.

John Flemming (Halifax, NS), put in a dominating performance at Scotia Speedworld last week and takes a 32-point lead into the race over the hard charging Brad Mann (Glen Livet). Mann finished last weeks race in third spot behind part-time Tour racer Scott Alexander (Dartmouth, NS).

The Parts For Trucks / Plasti-Kote Challenge is a series within a series. The Challenge is a four event series that takes place during the four Parts For Trucks events. This weekend is round three and sees Flemming heading the pack ahead of Gordie Ryan (Wellington, NS), Shawn Tucker (Fredericton), Wayne Smith (Timberlea, NS) and Mann.

Following are the current Parts For Trucks/Plasti-Kote Challenge top 10 point standings...
1. John Flemming 402
2. Gordie Ryan 394
3. Shawn Tucker 387
4. Wayne Smith 385
5. Brad Mann 382
6. Kent Vincent 380

Many drivers are looking for better results on the 3/8-mile Center For Speed oval. Former Tour champions Smith and Rollie MacDonald (Pictou, NS) both had mechanical problems that forced them out of last week’s race early. Another former Tour champ, Shawn Tucker (Fredericton) also suffered from car woes, while Tim Rogers (Upper Coverdale) hurt his engine in Time Trials, causing him to fail to finish the "B" Feature.

Conversely, Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) and Mike MacKenzie (Dartmouth, NS) are looking to build on their top five finishes from last week.

Russell Smith (Lakeside, NS) is ahead in the EIT Race Radios Rookie of the year program. Chasing Smith are Bobby Neilsen (Vernon River, PE), Roger Crane (Montague, PE), Sandy Livingston (Springhill, NS) and Mike Stevens (Riverview).

Another strong car count is expected at Centre for Speed for Saturday’s running of the Parts For Trucks 100.

Time trials kick off the pro stock competition at 5:10, and racing starts at 6. Pit gates open at 11:30 a.m.; grandstand gates open at 3 p.m. Admission prices are listed below.
