Mann's the Man in PEI

OYSTER BED BRIDGE, PEI (July 22, 2006) - Brad Mann got the checkered flag for the CARQUEST Tour 100 at Raceway Park Saturday night. The win marked Mann's first series victory - in his sophomore season. Dale Holmes was second and Kent Vincent was third. John Flemming and Chris Hughes rounded out the top five finishers.

Mann and Holmes diced for the lead the entire 100 laps…Holmes started on the pole, Mann outside pole…Mann led laps 1 to 8; Holmes laps 9 to17; Mann 15 to 33; Holmes 34 to 61; Mann 62; Holmes 63; Mann 64 to 100.

There were just four cautions and the race took only 52 minutes to complete. 27 cars entered the event and 26 started the feature race.

Mike MacKenzie set fast time in time trials at 14.231 seconds. Holmes won the Motor Mart Dash for the Pole. Flemming and Vincent won the Motor Mart Heat Races. Kent Livingston won the B Feature.

Two former series champs, Wayne Smith and Shawn Tucker, were victims of early race wrecks. Neither was able to finish the race.

Mann's win marks the end of the strangle-hold Island native drivers have had on Raceway Park in Tour races - since spring 2004. Mann hails from Glen Livit, New Brunswick.
