Parts for Trucks 100 Goes Saturday at NBIS
GEARY, NB (June 13, 2006) - The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour rolls into New Brunswick International Speedway (NBIS), Canada’s fastest short track, this Saturday for The Parts For Trucks 100. The race is the second of 11 events for the 2006 CARQUEST Tour season and is also round one of the 06 edition of the Parts For Trucks/Plasti-Kote Challenge.
A strong field of cars is expected to make the trip to NBIS, including former champions Rollie MacDonald (Pictou, NS), Shawn Tucker (Fredericton), John Flemming (Halifax, NS) and Wayne Smith (Timberlea, NS). Smith enters the event as the series points leader by just three markers over Gordie Ryan (Wellington, NS), the winner of the Tour season opener in Halifax last weekend.
Tucker and Brad Mann (Glen Livet, NB), are both former NBIS pro stock division champions - and are looking forward to defending their home turf against other series regulars.
Upwards of 27 other CARQUEST Tour teams are expected to enter The Parts for Trucks 100; when you add the local NBIS pro stock drivers Dave O'Blenis, Jerry Curtis, and Matt Harris that are expected to challenge the Tour teams, a strong field of cars is expected for the event.
A strong field of EIT Race Radio rookie contenders is also expected including: Paul Gahan (Lower St. Mary’s), Russell Smith (Lakeside, NS), Brent Wiggins (Hanwell), Mike Stevens (Riverview), Roger Crane (Montague, PE) and Bobby Nielsen (Vernon River, PE) and Sandy Livingston (Springhill, NS).
This is the first of two stops at NBIS for the 2006 edition of the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour. Kevin Moore (Fredericton, NB) won The Parts For Trucks 100 in 2005 and Tucker won the August event at NBIS.
The Parts For Trucks/Plasti-Kote Challenge will see the top three points getters, in the four Parts For Trucks-sponsored events on the 06 CARQUEST Tour, share in $3500 bonus money at the series year-end banquet.
The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour cars will see two rounds of qualifying for The Parts For Trucks 100. Time Trials and Heat Races, including the Motor Mart Dash for the Pole. The Time Trials are expected to go at 6:10 pm, with racing starting at 7 pm.
NBIS is located on Highway 7 in Geary, south of Fredericton. For more info on NBIS, click here.
