CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour August Race Dates Changed
(June 16, 2006) - The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour has announced the swapping of two race dates. The Tour will now make it's second visit to the CENTRE for Speed in Shediac, NB on Saturday August 26th and it’s first visit to the new Riverside Speedway in James River, NS on August 19th. The Shediac CENTRE for Speed will run it's first CARQUEST Tour date on July 15, as previously scheduled.
The change of dates was prompted by the large musical concert scheduled for August 19th in Moncton, NB, at Magnetic Hill. “We had concerns about traffic congestion and hotel room availability that weekend” said Center For Speed owner Tim Wile. “Although this concert will not be as large as the Rolling Stones, it will be large enough to impact the Moncton area. We didn’t want our race fans, both local and those that follow the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour, to be negatively impacted.”
“We work closely with the track owners and promoters when presenting our events and agreed with Tim Wile that it was best to avoid this weekend. With the cooperation of the folks at Riverside Speedway, we were able to swap dates,” said Tour GM Ken Cunning.
The CENTRE for Speed, Atlantic Canada’s super speedway, is a 128-acre motor sports park, which includes a 3/8th mile stock car oval and several other racing facilities. The facility over looks the beautiful Northumberland Straight and is located 5 kms from New Brunswick’s Parlee Beach in the village of Grand Barachois .
