PST to PEI for Canada Day

Charlottetown, PE (June 27, 2006) – The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour will spend Canada Day in PEI, the birthplace of Confederation, for the Parts For Trucks 100 at Raceway Park in Oyster Bed Bridge. John Flemming (Halifax, NS) and Gordie Ryan (Wellington, NS) are leading the point standings, with Flemming holding a five-point lead over Ryan. Saturday’s race.

The big question: Can the Island drivers continue their hold on the winner’s circle? An Island driver has won the last four CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour events at Raceway Park - Kent Livingston (Charlottetown) and Kent Vincent (Crapaud) in 2004 and Greg Proude (North Wiltshire) and Dale Holmes (West Covehead) in 2005. You have to go back to August 3 of '03, when Ryan was the winner, to find an off-Island driver in victory lane.

Will "home track" advantage again prevail? Kris Fournier (Charlottetown, PE) is coming off a good run at New Brunswick International Speedway; Chris Hughes (Winsloe, PE) and Darren Vanderaa (Winsloe, PE) will add additional horsepower for the Island brigade.

Flemming and Ryan, both already having won races in 2006, are out to stop the Islanders. Add Wayne Smith (Timberlea, NS), currently third in the point standings, and you have three talented drivers looking to go to victory lane. Add to the mix Brad Mann (Glen Livet, NB) and Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS), defending series champion Rollie MacDonald (Pictou, NS) and 2004 champion Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) and it may be difficult for the Islanders to pull off another win.

Russell Smith (Lakeside, NS) leads the EIT Race Radio Rookie of the Year race into the Oyster Bed Bridge facility. Chasing Smith are Paul Gahan (Lower St. Mary’s, NB), Mike Stevens (Riverview, NB) and Roger Crane (Montague, PE). All are looking to move up the ladder in the rookie standings.

Time Trials, Motor Mart dash and heats races will set the field for the Parts For Trucks 100.

The Parts For Trucks 100 at Raceway Park is round three of 11 on the 2006 CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour championship chase, and round two of four on the 2006 Parts For Trucks / Plasti-Kote Challenge.

The grandstand and pit gates will open at 12:30 pm. Time Trials start at 5:10 and racing starts at 6 pm.

Raceway Park is located between Charlottetown and Cavendish at the intersection of routes 6 and 7.
