2006 Event Schedule

HALIFAX, NS (2006 March 10) - Management for the CARQUEST Maritime Pro Stock Tour are pleased to announce the series 2006 event schedule, comprised of 11 events at five venues in the three Maritimes provinces.

Scotia Speedworld (Halifax) will host three events, the new Riverside Speedway (James River) sees two shows as does Raceway Park (Oyster Bed Bridge, PEI), New Brunswick International Speedway (Geary, NB) and Centre For Speed (Shediac, NB). All events will see two rounds of qualifying (Time Trials and Motor Mart Dash & Heat Races) as well as a feature race, which is 100 laps at all events except the last race at Scotia Speedworld, which is a 200-lap show.

“The re-building of Riverside Speedway has caused us to change the schedule slightly from previous years. We delayed the season start for two weeks and finish one week later than last year, but the sequence of races is the same, except for the one Riverside race” said Ken Cunning, General Manager, CARQUEST Maritime Pro Stock Tour.

The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour is the premiere level of stock car racing in Eastern Canada, offering exciting entertainment for race fans. The top drivers in the Maritimes compete in the series, all hoping for the prestigious championship title. Large car counts are expected again for this sixth year of competition in the series. Pre-season indications from race teams point towards an excess of 20 full-time competitors, including former champions Wayne Smith (Halifax, NS), Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) and John Flemming (Halifax, NS).

The EIT Race Radio Rookie of the Year battle is also expected to be fierce with new competitors indicating they will be joining the series this year, with Roger Crane (Montague, PE) and Paul Gahan (Lower St. Mary’s, NB) already registered.
