THe Lucas Oil 100 At Scotia Speedworld

Halifax, NS (July 3, 2007) – The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour presents the Lucas Oil 100 at Scotia Speedworld on Saturday, July 7th.

The championship point’s standings were shuffled a bit after last Saturday’s Parts For Trucks 100 at Raceway Park in Oyster Bed Bridge. Shawn Turple of Enfield, NS, in the Municipal Group Monte Carlo, moved into first place in the standings ahead of Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, NB and Chris Hughes of Winsloe, PE. Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, NB dropped to fourth while Bobby White of Kennetcook, NS moved to fifth place with his win last Saturday night. Kent Vincent of Crapaud, PE sits between White and the fast charging Wayne Smith of Timberlea, NS who is in seventh place, 63 back of Turple.

All this juggling of position means that drivers will be looking to gain back points lost, while those who made gains, will look to extend the point spread. This means that the drivers will covet every position in the heat and feature races. This will translate to great racing for the fans come Saturday night.

Sommerville still commands a sizeable lead in the EIT Race Radios Rookie of the Year point’s race. He is followed by Darren MacKinnon of Winsloe, PE, Jonathan Hicken of Brudenell, PE and Gary Bursey of Moncton, NB respectively.

Grandstands open at 3 PM, with Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials set for 5.10 PM. Racing Starts at 6 PM. The starting lineup will be decided by the Dash for Cash for the fastest cars from the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials and the heat races. The Urquhart MacDonald Associates B feature will be the last chance for cars to qualify for the Lucas Oil 100.

Admission is $ 22.00 for adults, $5.00 for youth eight to 15 years, while those seven and under are admitted free of charge. All children under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult. Access to the Pits is $25.00 and is restricted to those 16 years and older.

Advance tickets are available at CARQUEST Auto Parts in Halifax & Burnside, Parts For Trucks in Burnside, Forbes Chev Olds in Dartmouth and Rocky Lake Quarry in Bedford. Tickets will be available at the track on race night starting at 3 PM.
