Parts For Trucks 100 Set For Saturday
Halifax, NS (June 13, 2007) – The Parts For Trucks 100 is set for Saturday, June 16th at New Brunswick International Speedway in Geary, NB, near Fredericton. The race is round three of the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour 10 event summer series. It is also the first round of the Parts For Trucks Challenge, which sees drivers competing for bonus awards during the four Parts For Trucks Events.
Fredericton native Shawn Tucker is ready to defend his turf on his home track and hopes to take the lead in the CARQUEST Bonus Points Fund. $50,000.00 is paid out at year-end to the top 20 eligible competitors, with the winner taking home $10,000.00. Mike MacKenzie of Dartmouth, NS holds first place with a slim seven-point lead over Tucker. Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, NB is tied with Tucker in second place and is the leading rookie contender in the EIT Race Radios Rookie of the Year category. Shawn Turple of Enfield, NS and Bob White of Kennetcook, NS round out the top five in points.
Brad Mann of Glen Livet, NB, a NBIS alumni will look to recover from a disastrous run at the Pioneer Coal 100 at Riverside Speedway last Saturday night. The old adage “if it wasn’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have any luck”, sure fit Mann’s night.
Chasing Sommerville for the EIT Race Radios Rookie of the Year honours is Jonathan Hicken from Brudenell, PE. Dean MacInnis, Whycocomagh, NS, Darren MacKinnon, Winsloe, PE and Moncton’s Gary Bursey round out the top five in the rookie race.
Stacey Clements, Five Island Lake, NS is one lap up on Tucker in the Hard Charger awards, for drivers gaining the most places during the feature race. Kris Fournier, Charlottetown, PE is three laps back of Tucker in third.
Action starts at 5:10 PM with the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials followed by the Dash for Cash and the heat races.
The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour visits four different race tracks in the three Maritime Provinces on the east coast of Canada: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Facilities are required to meet specific criteria for the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour events; ensuring quality shows for the audience and the competitors.
