Rare Weekend Off Before New Raceway Park Debut
Halifax, NS (June 20, 2007) – The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour will enjoy a rare weekend off this coming weekend.
The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour returns to action for the Parts For Trucks 100 on Saturday, June 30th at Raceway Park in Oyster Bed Bridge, PE. The Parts For Trucks 100 will be the first event on the newly paved Island oval. A large crowd is expected to be on hand to recognize the efforts of the Island racers who spearheaded the drive to raise the capital for the re-paving project.
Island companies, big and small, will also be recognized for their generous contributions to the paving fund. This is truly a human-interest story without parallel. A group a racers binding together to raise funds to pave a race track, to ensure the future of stock car racing for future generations of Island racers. Add to this mix Island companies that have responded to the call of support from the racers. These companies see value in stock car racing in Prince Edward Island and the economic activity it generates.
In an era when so many are willing to take, to see so many willing to give back to the sport they love is quite inspiring. These drivers who spearheaded this project and all that have supported them, will have the gratitude of racers and race fans for years to come. I only hope their names are not forgotten in the passing of time.
The buzz on the Island indicates that June 30th may be a sellout. It’s an event that you do not want to miss. It is a chance to be part of history and a chance to publicly recognize the efforts of a group of drivers who fight tooth and nail on the track, but banded together for the good of the many. Well done!
How much faster will lap times be at the new Raceway Park, only time will tell. The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour drivers are chomping at the bit to get their first racing action on the new asphalt.
