MACKENZIE WINS THE PARTS FOR TRUCKS 200 AT SCOTIA SPEEDWORLD

September 8, 2007 (Halifax, NS) - Mike MacKenzie of Dartmouth, NS won the PARTS FOR TRUCKS 200 for the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour at Scotia Speedworld, near Halifax, NS on Saturday night. MacKenzie took the lead on lap 123 enroute to his second victory of the season. John Flemming of Halifax, NS and Wayne Smith of Timberlea, NS were second and third. Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, NB and Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, NB rounded out the top five.

Over 3000 fans saw eleven cautions slow the event. It took just over 2 hours to complete the PARTS FOR TRUCKS 200.

Chris Hughes of Winsloe, PEI, Flemming, and George Koszkulics of Little Harbour, NS won heat races. Donald Chisholm of Antigonish, NS won the Dash for the Pole, featuring the top nine finishers in the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials. Shawn Turple of Enfield had the fastest time on the 3/10 mile oval, at an average speed of nearly 75 miles per hour. Tucker took the PEI Potatoes Pole Challenge and gained 15 valuable championship points by returning to the top five.

The final transfer spots for the Main Feature were determined by the Urquart-MacDonald and Associates “B” Feature. Darren MacKinnon of Winsloe, PE won the event. Stacey Clements of Five Island Lake, NS and Tim Rodgers of Salisbury, NB rounded out the top three.

Thirty three of the Maritimes top drivers entered the event. Two drivers, Russell Smith of Timberlea, NS and Dean MacInnis of Whycocomagh, NS both had problems in practice and did not attempt to compete.

The 2007 CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour season has come to a close. Due to an ongoing hearing in the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia and the fact that the presiding Judge has reserved judgement until September 11, we are not able to declare an official 2007 CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour Champion until at least that time. Unofficially, Tucker leads the points after Turple was involved in an early accident and wasn’t a factor in the race.

The 2007 CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour PARTS FOR TRUCKS Challenge Champion (combining the points of the four PARTS FOR TRUCKS series races at four different tracks) is Smith.

With nearly 4000 locations in North America, CARQUEST Auto Parts supplies the professional automotive service repair industry as well as do-it-yourselfers with replacement parts, tools and equipment.
