RAIN HALTS THE LUCAS OIL 150
AT CENTRE FOR SPEED

Rain halted the Lucas Oil 150 at Centre for Speed, near Shediac, NB on Sunday afternoon. A cloudy afternoon resulted in fast times on the 1/3 mile oval during practice.

Before the rain came, Shaun Turple of Enfield, NS won the Dash for the Pole, featuring the top nine finishers in the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials. Dave O’Blenis of Boundary Creek, NB had the fastest time on the 1/3 mile oval, with an average speed of nearly 84 miles per hour.

The two completed heats were won by Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, NB and Jonathan Hicken of Montague, PE.

Thirty one of the top drivers from the Maritimes attempted to qualify for the Main Feature. Two cars failed to make the time trials, as both Roger Crane of Montague, PE and Gerry Curtis of Fredericton, NB both had motor issues during practice.

The event will still be on the 2008 schedule; however, the make up date for the event has not yet been announced.
