Sommerville Wins Parts For Trucks 100 at Speedway 660
GEARY, NB (July 26, 2008) - Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, NB won the PARTS FOR TRUCKS 100 at
Speedway 660, near Fredericton, NB on Saturday night. Sommerville led
wire to wire to win his first career win on the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour.
Sommerville won the Coast Tire Most Laps Led Award. Eight cautions
slowed the event, which took 1 hour and sixteen minutes to complete.
None of the top five cars opted to take the Hipertech Pole Challenge.
Brent Wiggins of Fredericton, NB; Robbie MacLean of Winsloe, PE; and
Wayne Smith of Timberlea, NS won heat races.
Sommerville won the Dash for the Pole, featuring the top nine finishers
in the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials. He started off the evening by
having the fastest time on the 1/4 mile oval, with an average speed of
nearly 67 miles per hour.
Daryl Mahar of Five Island Lake, NS won the "B" Feature, ahead of Kris
Fournier of Charlottetown, PE and Sandy Livingstone, Jr of Springhill, NS.
Thirty one of the top drivers from the Maritimes attempted to qualify
for the Main Feature.
The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour returns to action next Sunday, August 3rd
when the tour makes its return to Centre for Speed, near the beautiful
beaches of Shediac, NB. The race has a special start time of 3:00 p.m.
