Parts For Trucks 100
OYSTER BED BRIDGE, PEI (June 28, 2008) - Kent Vincent of Crapaud, PE won the PARTS FOR TRUCKS 100 at Raceway Park on Saturday night.
Vincent took the lead on lap 52 and held off fellow Island driver Chris Hughes of Brackley to take the win, his first Halcraft
Print Checkered Flag of the season. Hughes, who led the first 51 laps, came home second, ahead of Greg Proude of Charlottetown.
The "King of the Road" Roger Miller of Kennetcook, NS and Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, NB rounded out the top five.
Islanders dominated their home event, sweeping the top three positions and five of the top 10 finishing positions.
Over 2500 fans saw the two challenge each other several times on restarts throughout the event, slowed by seven cautions and taking
58 minutes to complete.
Jonathan Hicken of Montague, PE Darren MacKinnon of Winloe, PE and Wayne Smith of Timberlea, NS won heat races.
Hughes won the Coast Tire Most Laps Led Award and the Dash for the Pole, featuring the top nine finishers in the Atlantic
Tiltload Time Trials. Craig Slaunwhite of Terrence Bay, NS had the fastest time on the tight 1/4 mile oval, with an
average speed of nearly 67 miles per hour. None of the top five cars opted to take the Hipertech Pole Challenge.
Kris Fournier of Charlottetown, PE won the "B" Feature, ahead of Daryl Mahar of Hubley, NS and Bobby White of Kennetcook, NS.
Hughes unofficially leads the Parts for Trucks Challenge, a mini series held within the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour Championship.
Twenty nine of the top drivers from the Maritimes attempted to qualify for the Main Feature.
The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour returns to action next Saturday with the first extra distance event of the season. The
Forbes Chevrolet 150 will be held July 5 at Scotia Speedworld, near Halifax, NS. This is the first of four extra
distance races of the season and is the final tune up before the prestigious IWK 250, to be held July 19 at Riverside International
Speedway in James River, NS.
