Busy Season Ahead For CARQUEST Tour

HALIFAX, NS (March 10, 2008) - As the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour enters its eighth season, series management are preparing for what looks to be the busiest year yet in the ever-growing stock car touring series.

2008 will see an 11-race schedule at five different venues in the three Maritime Provinces to determine the 2008 series champion - a coveted title among the regional racing fraternity - and one respected far and wide throughout the North American motorsport industry.

The five venues are located in or near the major hubs of activity in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island and include: Scotia Speedworld - a 3/10-mile asphalt oval near Halifax; Riverside International Speedway - a 1/3-mile high banked asphalt oval in James River - between New Glasgow and Antigonish; Speedway 660 - formerly known as New Brunswick International Speedway, a 1/3-mile high banked asphalt oval in Geary - near Fredericton (NB); Centre for Speed - a 3/8-mile asphalt oval in Shediac - near Moncton (NB); and Raceway Park - a 1/4-mile asphalt oval in Oyster Bed Bridge - near Charlottetown (PEI).

The 2008 CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour season starts May 24 and ends September 6, and will see seven 100-lap features and four longer length features comprise the 11 events.

Parts For Trucks returns as a longtime sponsor - renewing their entitlement of four events: The Parts for Trucks 100 at Raceway Park June 28; the Parts for Trucks 100 at Speedway 660 July 26; the Parts for Trucks 100 at Riverside International Speedway August 16; and the series season finale - the Parts for Trucks 200 at Scotia Speedworld September 6.

Lucas Oil enters year number two as title sponsor of two events: the Lucas Oil 100 season opener at Scotia Speedworld May 24; and the June 21 Lucas Oil 100 at Speedway 660.

June 7 will see the inaugural Ron MacGillivray Chevrolet 100 at Riverside International Speedway.

Forbes Chev Olds enters its 42nd-year supporting Maritime motorsports by stepping up their participation in the CARQUEST Tour, sponsoring the Forbes Chev Olds 150 at Scotia Speedworld July 5.

The IWK 250 at Riverside July 18 & 19 is the series only two-day show in 08 - but with a purse that is expected to exceed $100,000 in total it will be two days jam-packed with the door-handle to door-handle excitement fans of the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour have come to know.

After a one-year hiatus, the series returns to Centre for Speed August 2 for a 150-lap main event featuring some of the best short track racers on the eastern seaboard.

The competitors accumulate championship points at each event to determine an overall series champion and other accolades including the Parts for Trucks Challenge - a mini-series that pays cash bonuses to the top three points-getters in the four Parts for Trucks-sponsored races.

More than 40 teams are expected to compete on the 2008 CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour; a roster will be announced preceding the season opener May 24.
