CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour Heads to Riverside as the Points Battle Heats Up

(Halifax, NS, August 18, 2009) The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour heads to the high banks of Riverside this Saturday, August 22 for the Parts for Trucks 100. It will be the third Parts for Trucks race of the season and the ninth leg of the summer series. Scotia Speedworld saw full throttle excitement this past weekend and fans can expect nothing less on Saturday at 1/3 mile facility located in James River, NS. Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials will begin at 5:10pm, followed by the Dartmouth Dodge Dash for Cash at 6:00pm. Main gates open at 1:00pm.

There are valuable Championship points on the line this weekend. With only two more opportunities to accumulate points before this season's Champion is crowned and only 32 markers separating the top five, the racing at Riverside will be fierce!

Shawn Turple of Enfield, NS currently sits in the top position as he maintains a slim 5 point lead over 5 time champion Wayne Smith of Timberlea, NS. John Flemming of Halifax, NS sits just a single point behind Smith in third place. New Brunswick drivers, Shawn Tucker (Fredericton) and Lonnie Sommerville (Saint John) round out the top five respectively.

Action is also heating up in the Parts for Trucks challenge - a contingency program in which drivers accumulate points based on their finishing positions in each of the four Parts for Trucks sponsored events. A cash bonus is paid to the top three Parts for Trucks Challenge points-getters. Currently Wayne Smith sits atop these standing with Shawn Turple and Greg Proude following closely behind. John Flemming and Lonnie Sommerville are also within striking distance for the cash bonus. Less than 30 markers separate all five. Riverside will represent round 3 of 4 for the season long challenge.

Also on tap for Saturday is a 50 lap Sportsman feature.
