Jam Packed Line-up on Tap for Atlantic CAT 250 Weekend

 

(Halifax, NS, August 4, 2009) The Atlantic CAT 250 returns to Scotia Speedworld this weekend, August 7th and 8th, for its 10th anniversary! The prestigious two day event attracts the best stock car drivers from Canada and the US, and boasts an impressive list of past champions. This year the Atlantic CAT 250 has become part of the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour's inaugural Triple Crown mini-series. Drivers and crews will be vying for a purse of over $50,000.00 Saturday evening on the 3/10 mile oval, located adjacent to the Halifax International Airport.

The Atlantic CAT 250 weekend has a packed schedule full of exciting events for the whole family. Friday night features qualifying for the CAT 250 and the C&R Auto Supply Sportsman 100. Following qualifying fans will have the rare opportunity to come onto the racing surface for an on track party featuring; live music, a Hooters hot wing eating contest, corn boil, face painting, bouncy castles for the kids, tons of prizes and much, much more. Be sure to come out early to Scotia Speedworld on Friday as free copies of Inside Track Motorsport News will be handed out to the first 1000 fans through the gate. 250 lucky fans will also win a free, one-year subscription to Inside Track, 'The Official Publication of Canadian Motorsports'. Gates open at 5:00pm on Friday night, racing starts at 7:00pm and the track party will get underway at approximately 9:00pm.

Anyone who would like to participate in the Hooters Hot Wing Eating contest can fill out a ballot on Friday night. Following qualifying, 10 names will be drawn and those people will be the lucky participants in the wing eating contest. Please note this is a HOT wing eating contest . . . not for the faint of heart! The winner of the Hooters Hot Wing Eating Contest will receive a VIP package to the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour season finale, the Parts for Trucks 200 at Scotia Speedworld on September 12th.

Saturday kicks off with an on track autograph session with the qualified drivers for the CAT 250. The autograph session will take place from approximately 3:50 - 4:30pm. Following the autograph session the C&R Auto Supply Sportsman take to the track for their 100 lap event. Immediately following the C&R Auto Supply Sportsman race is the main event-the Atlantic CAT 250, featuring 26 of the best stock car drivers. Gates open at 2:00pm on Saturday afternoon. Racing is slated to get underway at 5:00pm.

Admission for Friday night is $10.00 for adults, $2.00 for youth (8-15 years old); pit admission is $15.00. Admission for Saturday's Atlantic CAT 250 is $35.00 for adults; $5.00 for youth; pit admission is $40.00. Two day passes are also available - adults are $40.00, two day pit passes are $45.00. Children 7 and under are admitted for free all weekend. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Pits are restricted to those 16 and older.
