CPST Heads to Speedway 660 for Rescheduled Parts for Trucks 100

(Halifax, NS, July 23, 2009) This weekend the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour is heading to Speedway 660 for Saturday's Parts for Trucks 100 and everyone has their fingers crossed that Mother Nature will show her kinder side. This race is a rescheduled event after rainy weather a few weeks ago forced track and tour officials to postpone. Speedway 660 is located in Geary, NB, just outside of Fredericton. The 1/3 mile paved oval will host the first of four Parts for Trucks races this season on Saturday, July 25th. Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials are set to begin at 6:10pm, followed by the Dartmouth Dodge Dash for Cash. Feature racing gets underway at 7:00pm.

The racing action is always great when the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour hits any track on the schedule, but it's especially good when it heads to the Geary Woods since the track hosts a weekly Pro Stock division. The local drivers always give the Tour regulars a run for their money and this weekend will be no exception. The local points leader, Greg Fahey, as well as Matt Harris and Brent Wiggins will all be looking to have a great run on their home turf.

The Tour also has many full time drivers that call Speedway 660 their home track. Shawn Tucker, who sits in the second place spot in the overall standings, already has two race victories this summer and is hungry for a third. Lonnie Sommerville, 4th in points, is looking for his first checkered flag of the season and is not likely to forget that it was this weekend last year that he swept the same event. Of course you can't count out Dave O'Blenis who will be trying to gain on the four other drivers ahead of him in the point standings.

John Flemming and Shawn Turple, 1st and 3rd in the points respectively, are also expected to race this weekend. Flemming placed 3rd in the PASS North event at the track this past June and will try to ride that momentum and stretch his points lead to more than the four markers it is now. Turple will be driving his backup car on Saturday, but with a win last season at Speedway 660 you can be sure he'll be a top contender this weekend.

The Parts for Trucks Challenge will also come into play this weekend for the first time this season. The Parts for Trucks Challenge is a contingency program in which drivers accumulate points based on their finishing positions in each of the four Parts for Trucks sponsored events during the 2009 season. A cash bonus is paid to the top three Parts for Trucks Challenge points-getters at the year end banquet.

Saturday's event will also feature regular points racing in the Speedway 660 Martin's Home Heating Sportsman and Coast Tire Street Stock divisions.

Admission is $20 for Adults (16 and over), $15 for Youth (ages 9-15); children eight and under are admitted free. A Family Pass is available for $75 - good for two adults, two youth AND four pop and four fries.
