Jonathan Hicken Ends 2010 Season With Victory

Tucker Is 2010 CARQUEST Tour Champ

(Halifax, NS, September 12, 2010) Brudenell, PE’s Jonathan Hicken ended the season with a bang by leading 72 of the final 200 laps of the season which gave his Chapman Brothers Construction Chevrolet Impala a third victory in 2010. Antigonish, NB’s Donald Chisholm was itching for his second win to end off the season but his Nova Construction Ford Fusion had to settle for second. Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) in his AL Gullison Chevrolet Impala followed Chisholm across the line to complete the Parts For Trucks 200 podium. Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS, Dexter Construction) and John Flemming (Halifax, NS, The Roofing Connection) rounded out the top five.

Tucker’s third place finish was just what he needed to secure his third CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour Championship of his career. His strong run throughout the race held off Shawn Turple who ended the season 18 points back of the top spot. Chisholm’s podium finish and Hicken’s bonus points for leading the most laps allowed them to overtake Wayne Smith (Timberlea) to round out the top five overall.

Proude set fast time in Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials to start the day’s qualifying with a lap time of 14.366 seconds. After a shakeup of the ten fastest cars and a ten lap Dartmouth Dodge Dash For The Pole, Chisholm would earn the right to start in the pole position for the Parts For Trucks 200 later that night. The remainder of the lineup was set through Dartmouth Dodge Heat Races which saw Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) and Marty Prevost (Fall River, NS) victorious. Hicken led 72 laps of the race to receive the Scotia Emergency Most Laps Led Award. Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) was the leader on lap 100 to win the Ledwidge Lumber Halfway Award. Jerome Kehoe was the highest finishing rookie in ninth place to win the EIT Race Radios Rookie of the Race Award.

This race was also the final in the Parts For Trucks Challenge which saw Turple coming in on top of the heap, Chisholm following behind him, and Tucker and Hicken tying for third place.
