KOSZKULICS RETURNS TO VICTORY LANE IN LUCAS OIL 100
(Antigonish, NS. August 20, 2011) – New Glasgow’s George Koszkulics snapped a six season winless drought on
Saturday night by taking the checkers in the Lucas Oil 100 at Riverside International Speedway. Koszkulics, who
started sixth on the 23 car field took the lead for the final time on lap 60 and led the final 40 laps en route to the
popular win. IWK 250 winner Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE) finished second while Craig Slaunwhite
(Terence Bay) held off a strong pack of cars battling for the third place spot. Fourth place went to Kent Vincent
(Crapaud, PE), who picked up the King Freight Lines Halfway Award and the Linde Group Most Laps Led Award
after leading the first 60 laps of the event from the Fast Eddie Racewear Pole. Completing the top five in the tenth
event of the season was Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB).
The Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials set the tone for the evenings festivities and it was Shawn Turple (Enfield) pacing
the field with a blistering time of 14.200 around the 1/3-mile, high banked oval. Dartmouth Dodge Heat Races
went to Tucker and Wayne Smith (Timberlea).With Smith finishing ninth in the Lucas Oil 100, it will tighten up the
point standings with two races to go. The Lucas Oil 100 featured four yellow flag periods and took over one hour
to complete.
The next event for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour is the CARQUEST 100 on Saturday, August 27th, at Petty
International Raceway. Home track favorite Mike Stevens will be looking to take the victory in his own backyard,
while Wayne Smith will look to defend his unofficial point lead leading into the race. Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials
begin at 5:10pm with the Fast Eddie Dash for Cash rolling off at 6pm.
