Turple Repeats Lockhart Truck
Center 100 Victory

(Halifax, NS. July 2, 2011) –Shawn Turple in his #0 Dexter Construction/Municipal Group Chevrolet Impala found himself in the same spot they did one year ago – in victory lane! Turple took the lead on lap 84 and held on for his second consecutive win in the Lockhart Truck Center 100 at Scotia Speedworld Saturday night. The victory was his first of the 2011 season for the Enfield driver and first since the Lockhart triumph one season ago. Craig Slaunwhite of Terence Bay came home a strong second while Fredericton, NB’s, Shawn Tucker finished a close third. Completing the top five were Timberlea’s Wayne Smith and Jonathan Hicken of Brudenell, PE.

Turple (Enfield, NS) started the day off strong, winning the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials with a quick lap of 14.393 seconds. Tucker picked up the pole position in the Fast Eddie Dash for Cash while Dartmouth Dodge Heat Races saw Marty Prevost (Fall River) and Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) pick up the checkered flag. Tucker was also the recipient of the King Freight Lines Halfway Award and the Linde Most Laps Led Award. The Lockhart Truck Center 100 featured just two cautions and was run in a blistering 31 minutes.

The Maritime League of Legends opened the Lockhart 100 with a 50 lap feature which was won by Lantz’s Steve Pye. The#6 Payless Automotive ’37 Ford bested former Legends champ Paul Blenkhorn (Truro) and Darren Sherwood (Berry Mills, NB) to take the win. Heat race wins were picked up by Tony Gaudet Jr (Milford Station) and Blenkhorn.

The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour returns to Scotia Speedworld on August 13th for the Atlantic CAT 250. The annual event is one of the most anticipated of the season by both fans and drivers! Tickets for the Atlantic CAT 250 are on sale now at Ticket Atlantic.

The next event for the Tour is the Parts for Trucks 100 at Speedway 660 located just outside of Fredericton, NB. Last season it was a green white checkered finish which saw Lonnie Sommerville (Saint John, NB) take the win, with Tucker, Slaunwhite, Turple and Smith rounding out the top five respectively. With Sommerville running the PASS North Tour this season, the door will be open for one of these drivers to take the honours. Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials for the Parts for Trucks 100 are slated to begin at 6:10 pm, with racing action at 7:00 pm.
