PARTS FOR TRUCKS PRO STOCK TOUR HEADS TO OYSTER BED SPEEDWAY

(Halifax, NS. July 26, 2011) – The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour heads to scenic Prince Edward Island this weekend for the Air Show Atlantic 100. Oyster Bed Speedway will host the Air Show Atlantic 100 on Saturday, July 30th. This is the final stop of the season for the regional touring series to the 1/3 mile oval, located just outside of Charlottetown in Oyster Bed Bridge. The Air Show Atlantic 100 marks round 8 of twelve for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. Racing action gets underway at 6:00 p.m., with Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials set to begin at 5:10 p.m.

Hometown driver Darren MacKinnon of Charlottetown kick started his incredible season at Oyster Bed Speedway back in June with his first career victory, Mackinnon carried that momentum to a sixth place finish in the Lockhart Truck Center 100 at Scotia Speedworld, a third place finish in the Parts for Trucks 100 at Speedway 660 and another huge victory last weekend at the IWK 250 held at Riverside International. MacKinnon has proven he can win in this series and will be looking for the season sweep at his home track this weekend. Wayne Smith (Timberlea, NS) is a driver MacKinnon will have to beat in order to take the sweep, Smith has won three of the last four fall races at Oyster Bed Speedway, and after falling from top spot in the championship points standings following the IWK 250 you can bet Smith will be looking for a victory as well.

Following the IWK 250, Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) sits on top of the championship point standings with 1375. Smith sits just 13 markers behind Tucker with 1362 points. Mackinnon’s victory vaulted him into third spot with 1344 points. Kent Vincent, who also calls this track home, will be looking to improve his current position of fourth this weekend, Vincent has accumulated 1335 championship points to date, just 9 ahead of Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) who rounds out the top five.

The Air Show is also making its way to Prince Edward Island this summer. Formerly know as the Nova Scotia International Air Show, Air Show Atlantic is the regions largest annual air show.
