Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Set to Roar into Riverside

(Halifax, NS. June 14, 2011) The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour heads to the high banks of Riverside International Speedway this Saturday, June 18th for the Ron MacGillivray Chev Buick GMC 100. This will be the first event of the season for the 1/3 mile track located just outside of Antigonish in James River, NS and round three of twelve for the touring series. Last season Greg Proude of Springvale, PE took the checkers at this event. This time around Proude will have beat 25 of Canada’s best drivers in order to be a back to back winner of the Ron MacGillivray Chev Buick GMC 100. Racing action starts at 6:00 pm, with Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials set to begin at 5:10 pm. Box office and grandstands open at 2:00 pm.

Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, NB leads the championship standings by the slimmest of margins, just one point ahead of Timberlea, NS’s Wayne Smith and John Flemming of Halifax, NS, who are currently tied for second. Donald Chisholm of Antigonish, NS sits just ten points back and will look to make up ground at his home track. Kent Vincent of Crapaud, PE rounds out the top five and sits fifteen points behind Tucker.

NASCAR Canadian Tire Series driver Jason Hathaway will join the field for the Ron MacGillivray Chev Buick GMC 100. Hathaway of Appin, ON will pilot the #09 Vortex Brakes Ford Fusion out of the Nova Racing stable.

Vortex Brakes also joined the Tour this season as the sponsor of the Hard Charger Award. Each race the driver who gains the most positions at the conclusion of the feature receives $100 cash award. In addition to the cash award the driver also receives a full set of Vortex brake pads valued at approximately $800.00. Shawn Pierce of Blockhouse, NS took home the Vortex Brakes Hard Charger Award at the season opener CARQUEST 100 and Jerome Kehoe of Sydney, NS picked up the prize at the Lucas Oil 100; Kehoe started in the 16th position and finished third.

Opening the Ron MacGillivray Chev Buick GMC 100 is the Napa Sportsman Tour who will be kicking off their season with the Highland Building Supplies 50 lap feature.
