Chisholm Wins the Ron MacGillivray Chev Buick GMC 100 at Riverside
(Antigonish, NS. June 18, 2011) – Hometown hero Donald Chisholm took home round three of the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Saturday night at Riverside International Speedway. Chisholm, who resides in Antigonish, was in front of the Ron MacGillivray Chev Buick GMC 100 field on lap 90 when the race was called due to rain, giving the #89 Keltic Ford / Nova Construction Fusion the win. Halifax’s Wayne Smith took home second in his Jetco Contracting/ICI Paints Chevy. Jonathan Hicken of Brudenell, PE drove his Chapman Brothers Construction / Castle Building Center Chevy to the final spot on the podium. Rounding out the top five were Island boys Darren MacKinnon of Charlottetown, who picked up his best finish of his Pro Stock career with fourth and Kent Vincent of Crapaud had another solid result finishing fifth.
The rain shortened race saw 5 cautions and took 48 minutes to complete. Wayne Smith sat on the pole after winning the Fast Eddie Dash for Cash. Smith also takes home the King Freight Lines Halfway Award. Another driver who calls this track home, George Koszkulics of New Glasgow, NS won Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials with a hot lap of 14.806 seconds. Hicken and Greg Proude of Springvale, PE both won their respective heat races.
NASCAR Canadian Tire Series driver Jason Hathaway of Appin, ON piloted his #09 Vortex Brakes Ford Fusion to 20th place finish after a late race altercation on lap 78, with reigning Tour champion Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, NB.
The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour returns to Riverside International for the IWK 250 presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body on Saturday, July 23rd. NASCAR superstar Marcos Ambrose hailing from Tasmania, AU is scheduled to join the field.
The next event for the Tour is the Parts for Trucks 100 at Oyster Bed Speedway located just outside of Charlottetown, PE. Last season Jonathan Hicken took home his first Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour victory at this event, which also happens to be his home track. Don’t miss any of the action, Saturday, June 25th.
