(Moncton, NB - June 4, 2011) – Jonathan Hicken of Brudenell, PE took the first checkered flag in over a decade at the new Petty International Raceway on Saturday Evening. Hicken led 90 laps of the Lucas Oil 100 in his Chapman Brothers Construction Chevy Impala before failing post race tech inspection. Halifax’s Wayne Smith, who was the last driver to win at Petty (September 23, 2000) took home second place in his #44 Jetco Contracting Impala. Donald Chisholm of Antigonish, NS battled 2010 rookie of the year, Jerome Kehoe of Sydney, NS for a few intense laps to take home third. Kehoe and Marty Prevost of Fall River, NS rounded out the top five. Due to Hicken’s DQ all drivers will see themselves move up one position.

A capacity crowd was on hand to see the track opener Lucas Oil 100 at Petty International, which saw 7 cautions and took just over an hour to complete. Darren MacKinnon of Charlottetown, PE sat on the pole after winning the Fast Eddie Dash for Cash and held the position for the first 10 laps. Hicken and MacKinnon were the only two drivers to lead a lap. Mike Stevens (Riverview, NB) won Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials with a blistering speed of 13.437. Marty Prevost and Greg Proude of Springvale, PE both won their respective heat races.

Opening the Lucas Oil 100 was the Atlantic Open Wheel Tour and 4-cylinders. Top three AOW finishers were, Jamie Brown in third, Mike Raeburn took second and Paul Costain won the 20 lap feature. Mike Weagle won the 4-cylinder feature, Jorden Smith crossed the finish line in second and Bob Hallihan finished on the podium in third.

The next event for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour is the Ron MacGillivray Chev Buick GMC 100 at Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish, NS. Last season Greg Proude took home the trophy at this event at the track known as the “rollercoaster”. Proude will have beat 25 of the Maritime’s best drivers in order to be a back to back winner of the Ron MacGillivray Chev Buick GMC 100.
