TUCKER TAKES FIRST CHECKERS OF
THE PRO STOCK TOUR SEASON

Halifax, NS, May 22, 2011) – Reigning Tour Champion, Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, NB took home the first checkered flag of the 2011 Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour season Sunday afternoon at Scotia Speedworld. Tucker, in his A L Gullison Disaster Kleenup Chevrolet Impala held of Halifax’s John Flemming in a green white checker finish. Wayne Smith of Halifax, NS finished third after a late race altercation between Darren MacKinnon (Charlottown, PE) and Craig Slaunwhite (Terance Bay, NS) who were battling for third with two laps to go. Rounding out the top five were Islanders Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell) and Kent Vincent (Crapaud).

The race was completed in one hour and 3 minutes and was slowed by 8 cautions. John Flemming pocketed the Linde Most Laps Led Award (eighty laps) and the King Freight Halfway Award. The lead position was exchanged four times between Flemming and Tucker. Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) started his season off by winning the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials with a blistering lap of 14.2 seconds around the 3/10-mile Speedworld oval. Flemming started on the pole after winning the Fast Eddie Racewear Dash for Cash while Marty Prevost (Fall River, NS), George Koszkulics (New Glasgow, NS) and Mike Mackenzie (Dartmouth, NS) paraded the checkers in their respective Dartmouth Dodge Heat Races. All twenty-five drivers who attempted to qualify for the CARQUEST 100 started the feature while Chris Hughes of Brackley Beach, PE had mechanical issues after the completion of the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials.
