Clark Captures Second Atlantic Cat 250 Victory At Scotia Speedworld
(August 11, 2012 - Halifax, NS) Cassius Clark (Farmington, ME) was the big winner at Halifax’s biggest stock car weekend of the season as he captured his second career Atlantic CAT 250 win at Scotia Speedworld. Clark, driving Rollie MacDonald’s #13 King Freight Lines Chevrolet Impala, had to hold off Turner, Maine’s Mike Rowe, who battled his weekend teammate Shawn Turple (Enfield) for the runner up spot. Fourth place belonged to Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay) who dominated the first half of the race, leading 147 laps before pitting in the second half of the event, while Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell, PE) wound up in the fifth spot after 250-laps.
Kicking off the festivities on the afternoon were the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials, which were paced by Slaunwhite with a time of 14.480 seconds around the 1/3-mile oval. Turple took home the Fast Eddie Racewear Dash for Cash, while Hicken and Frankie Fraser (Shubenacadie) pocketed Dartmouth Dodge Heat Races. Slaunwhite took away the Linde Most Laps Led Award and the King Freight Lines Halfway Award, Dylan Gosbee (Cornwall, PE) gained the most positions in the feature to win the Absolute Traffic Services Hard Charger Award with Lower Sackville’s Brad Eddy ending up as the top freshman as the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Race. A total of 14 cautions slowed the event, which took two and a half hours to complete.
Due to a heavy fog rolling in causing a very slick race track, the Scotia Speedworld support classes the Hydraulics Plus Bandoleros and Strictly Hydraulics Legends were unable to run their feature events.
Next up for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour is the Lucas Oil 100 at Riverside International Speedway. Tickets are available at RiversideSpeedway.ca for the August 18th event. This will be the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour final visit to the high banked oval in 2012.
