PRO STOCK TOUR HEADS TO PETTY INTERNATIONAL FOR IRVING MAX1-150
(Halifax, NS, Aug 22, 2012) The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will make its second and final visit of the season to Petty International Raceway this Saturday for the Irving MAX1-150. The ¼ mile oval, located just outside of Moncton in River Glade, NB will host the extended distance event, which marks round 11 of 12 for the popular regional touring series. The Irving MAX1-150 is the highlight event of the 48th running of the River Glade International taking place this weekend at Petty Raceway. Grandstand gates for the Irving MAX1-150 open at 3:00 PM; Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials will get underway at 5:10 PM with racing action slated for 6:00 PM.
With just two races to go and three drivers in contention for the championship, the penultimate event on the 2012 schedule, the Irving MAX1-150, will play a major role in deciding who takes home the coveted title and the $10,000.00 championship cheque. 2009 series champion Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) currently sits atop the standings with a slim eight point margin over three-time series champion John Flemming (Halifax, NS). Flemming is hoping to add 2012 to his list of championships which came in 2002, ’03 and ’06. Looking to become a first time series champion is Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell, PE); Hicken is currently third just points 10 back of Flemming and 18 behind Turple. Hicken won the Lucas Oil 100 at Petty earlier this season and knows he has on opportunity to make up ground at the track the No. 5 team has seen much success on.
Dean Clattenburg will make his Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour debut on Saturday piloting the No. 13 King Racing entry. Clattenburg, who originally hails from Dartmouth, has been residing in North Carolina for over a decade. Clattenburg has deep roots in the Maritime racing scene, he is the son of four-time MASCAR champion and Maritime Motorsports Hall of Fame member Terry Clattenburg. Dean himself picked up the 1992 MASCAR Rookie of the Year title and has many starts at the former Petty International Raceway. Dean made his first Maritime start in over a decade at Scotia Speedworld a few weeks ago in the Dartmouth Dodge Sportsman 100 where he came from the rear of the field to pick up a third place finish.
The Maritime League of Legends will take centre stage with a 50 lap feature prior to the Irving MAX1-150.
Tickets for the Irving MAX1- 150 will be available at the gate on race day (cash only). Admission is $30.00 for adults, $10.00 for youth (8-15 yrs); children 7 and under are free. Pit admission is $35.00. Complete event information can be found at www.maritimeprostocktour.com.
