TURPLE WINS IRVING MAX1-150
AND EXTENDS POINT LEAD

(August 25, 2012 - River Glade, NB)
–Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour point leader Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) took a huge step towards the 2012 championship by taking the victory in the Irving Max1-150 at Petty International Raceway on Saturday night. Turple capitalized on a restart with 14 to go to take the lead and held on at the end during an exciting Green-White-Checkered finish. Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year candidate Brad Eddy (Lower Sackville, NS) edged out Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) in a photo finish for the second spot, while 2011 River Glade International winner Kent Vincent (Crapaud, PE) and Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) completed the top five in an action packed event.

Slaunwhite, in the #99 Halifax Glass and Mirror Impala, dominated the early stages of the evening, taking the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials (13.689 seconds), King Freight Lines Halfway Award and the Linde Most Laps Led Award (82). Eddy collected Exide Batteries Rookie of the Race honors with his runner-up finish to Turple. John Flemming (Halifax, NS) started from the rear and finished 8th, in turn picking up the Absolute Traffic Services Hard Charger Award. The Fast Eddie Racewear Dash for Cash was won by Vincent, while hometown favorite Mike Stevens (Salisbury) and a Dean Clattenburg (Mooresville, NC/Dartmouth, NS) took home Dartmouth Dodge Heat Races. The Irving Max1-150 featured seven cautions and took 90 minutes to complete.

With his win, Turple and the #0 Dexter Construction/Municipal Group Chevrolet Impala now lead the standings, unofficially, by 27 points over Flemming. Hicken falls to third, 48 points behind Turple after a mechanical issue took the No. 5 Castle Building Centres car out of the race on lap 135.

The Maritime League of Legends kicked off the show with a 50 lap feature, which saw Cole Butcher of Porter’s Lake, NS take the checkers.
