HICKEN TAKES HOME THRILLING
ADVANCE RENTALS 150

(Oyster Bed Bridge, PE, August 4th, 2012) Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell) used home track advantage to take a dominating victory in the Advance Rentals 150 at Oyster Bed Speedway on Saturday night. Hicken, in the #5 CASTLE Building Centres Impala led 145 laps and battled with John Flemming (Halifax, NS) and Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) for most of the feature before the two had mechanical problems and fell out of the race. Finishing in second was Enfield, Nova Scotia’s Shawn Turple with Kent Vincent (Crapaud) finishing in the third place. Jerome Kehoe (Sydney, NS) brought his car home in fourth with Greg Proude (Springvale) completing the top five.

The afternoon’s festivities kicked off with the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials event, which was paced by Flemming with a qualifying lap of 13.421 seconds around the 1/4-mile oval. Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) took top honours in the Fast Eddie Racewear Dash for Cash while Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) and Chisholm picked up wins in the Dartmouth Dodge Heat Races. Hicken also took away the King Freight Lines Halfway and Linde Most Laps Led

Awards by leading all but five laps. Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year leader Steve Halpin (Saint John, NB) took top freshman honors in the Advance Rentals 150, while Kehoe claimed the Absolute Traffic Services Hard Charger Award on the evening after picking up eight spots in the feature for the second consecutive race. Eight cautions slowed the race, which took about two hours to complete.
