LUCAS OIL 100 ON DECK FOR PARTS FOR TRUCKS PRO STOCK TOUR

(Halifax, NS, June 28, 2012) The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will make its first visit to Prince Edward Island this Saturday for the Lucas Oil 100 at Oyster Bed Speedway; round five of 12 for the Maritime based touring series. Last year’s winner of this event, Charlottetown’s Darren MacKinnon, currently sits tied for third in the Championship standings with Crapauds’s Kent Vincent. MacKinnon and Vincent are just six points out of the lead as the Tour heads to their home track this Saturday. Qualifying for the Lucas Oil 100 gets underway with Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials at 5:10 PM, racing action at 6:00 PM.
Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) took over the Championship point standings lead with his win last weekend. Tucker, a three-time Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Champion (2010, 2007, 2004), sits just five points ahead of 2009 Champion Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS). MacKinnon and Vincent are deadlocked in third with 756 points a piece and Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) completes the top five as he continues to string together consistent strong finishes.
MacKinnon and Vincent lead the six full-time Island driver contingent, however Jonathan Hicken (Montague, PE) is already a race winner this season and sits ninth in points, well in contention for a run at the 2012 title heading to the 1/3 mile oval he also calls home. Greg Proude (Spingvale, PE) has had a rough start to his season and currently finds himself in 16th position and will look to rebound this Saturday. Rounding out the Island contingent are Rookie contenders Dylan Gosbee (Cornwall, PE) and Terry Dougay (Albany, PE) who sit 19th and 20th respectively.
