Turple Launches 2017 Season With Victory In Lucas Oil 150

(Halifax, NS - May 20, 2017) –Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) started off 2017 by returning to victory lane in dominant fashion by winning the Lucas Oil 150 at Scotia Speedworld. Turple held off reigning series champion Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) on a final restart with seven laps to go to lock down his first Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour feature win since 2014. Butcher held on for second, ahead of Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS), Dylan Gosbee (Cornwall, PE) and Exide Batteries Rookie of the Race and King Freight Future Winners Award winner Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS)

Turple took home the Linde Most Laps Led Award by leading 130 of 150-lap distance. The final lead change took place on Lap 21 when Turple took the lead from Blenkhorn. Atlantic Tiltload Heat Races to set the field for the main event were won by Blenkhorn, five-time series champion John Flemming (Halifax, NS) and Exide Batteries Rookie Contender Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth, NS). The Lucas Oil 150 featured 10 cautions and took one hour, 20 minutes to complete.

The Maritime League of Legends also kicked off their season with the Atlantic Tiltload 50 prior to the main event. Adam Meehan (Rawdon, NS) picked up the first checkered flag of the season, not to mention his first career victory on the Maritime League of Legends Tour. Paul Goulden (Shelburne, NS) came home second, while Waylon Farrell (Conception Bay, NL) took the final spot on the podium.   

The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour returns to action on Saturday, June 10 at Petty International raceway located in River Glade NB, just outside of Moncton. The 150 lap event will mark round two of 12 on the exciting 2017 season! Adult tickets are $30.00, Youth (8-18 yrs) $10.00, children seven and under are free. Support classes include Late Models, Street Stocks and Mini Stocks. Don’t miss any of the action at Petty International Raceway on Saturday, June 10th at 6:00PM.
