BUTCHER WINS DARTMOUTH DODGE 200;

TURPLE EDGES OUT THIRD CHAMPIONSHIP

 (Halifax, NS, September 16, 2017) - Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) drove his No. 53 Atlantic Tiltload Chevrolet to victory lane in the season finale Dartmouth Dodge 200 for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. Butcher took home his second victory of the year in style as he paced the field for all but five of the 200 laps, in turn earning him the Linde Most Laps Led Award.

Butcher entered 41 points behind Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) in the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour championship chase, but a Lap 29 incident saw Turple forced to the pit area to make repairs. Turple emerged 15 laps down but stayed on track to complete the rest of the laps, picking up enough positions to exit the Dartmouth Dodge 200 with a 16th place finish, a single point lead and his third career Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Championship.

Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) and Russell Smith Jr. (Lakeside, NS) raced to second and third, respectively, in the Dartmouth Dodge 200 after Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE) and Jarrett Butcher (Porters Lake, NS) tangled coming to the checkered flag.  Dylan Gosbee (Cornwall, PE) and Exide Batteries Rookie of the Race Robbie MacEwen (Sherwood, PE) completed the top five in the 23 car field.

Starting positions for the Dartmouth Dodge 200 were set by Atlantic Tiltload Heat Races which were won by Butcher, Turple and Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS). Smith Jr. won the King Freight Lines Future Winner award with his second podium finish of the year.

Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) takes home the 2017 Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year title, edging out his season long competition Stevie Lively (Shubenacadie, NS), Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth, NS) and Robbie MacEwen (Charlottetown, PE). Butcher finishes the season seventh in points.

The Maritime League of Legends kicked off the day’s festivities with a 50 lap feature presented by R&D Performancecentre. Waylon Farrell (Conception Bay South, NL) came home first followed by Shelby Baker (Fall River, NS) and Paul Goulden (Shelburne, NS). Farrell takes home his second consecutive Maritime League of Legends Championship.

Turple will officially receive his championship spoils including the impressive championship ring commissioned by Inglis Jewelers at the 2017 Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Year End Awards Banquet on November 4th at the Delta Prince Edward in Charlottetown, PE.
