The high banked oval will host race 11 of 12 with over 20 teams expected including two-time NASCAR Truck champion Matt Crafton. With only two races remaining on the 2017 schedule the chase for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Championship is down to the wire and the Series enters Riverside with a new point leader. Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) was leading the standings however a weight infraction following the Cummins 200 at Petty International Raceway resulted in the team dropping to sixth position. Two-time Series champion Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) takes over the point lead with a 44 point advantage over current champion Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) who now sits second. Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) moves up to third position and now has his sights set on winning his first Series championship. Dylan Gosbee (Cornwall, PE) and Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) complete the top five heading into the Lucas Oil 150.
Two-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion Matt Crafton will make a special appearance at Riverside International Speedway this Saturday. This will be Crafton's fourth appearance at Riverside. Crafton's first three attempts to tame the 0.333-mile high banked oval in three consecutive IWK 250's (2014-2016). His average finish in those events is 11.33 with a top spot of third in the 2016 edition of the event. Crafton, of Tulare, California, will run the Lucas Oil 150 in No. 88 out of the Nova Racing stable as a teammate to veteran Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) and rookie Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS).
Fans will have a chance to meet Matt Crafton on Saturday, September 9. More details will be posted as they become available.
Also on the card for the event is the final championship points race for the NAPA Sportsman Series, the R&D Performancenter 75. Colby Smith (Pine Grove, NS) leads Dale Richardson (Stellarton, NS) by 12 points heading into the finale. Pete Miller (Kennetcook, NS) is just one marker behind Richardson. Smith is looking for his second series title while Richardson and Miller are hoping to overtake Smith for their first series championship.
