COLE BUTCHER SWEEPS OYSTER BED SPEEDWAY with VICTORY
AT LUCAS OIL 150
(Oyster Bed Bridge, PE, Aug 4, 2018) – Cole Butcher (Enfield, NS) drove back to Victory Lane for the fourth time this season and completed the Prince Edward Island sweep in 2018 at the Lucas Oil 150 at Oyster Bed Speedway Saturday night. After a caution with 14 laps to go, Butcher battled with Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) for the final 14 lap shootout – the two swapping the lead eight times before the checkered flag flew. Blenkhorn finished in 12th position after the two made contact in the final turn of the race and spun to a stop on the front stretch. Behind them, Dylan Gosbee (Cornwall, PE) and Kent Vincent (Crapaud, PE) were in the middle of their own battle for the 3rd position, and capitalized on Blenkhorn’s spin to finish second and third respectively. Rounding out the top five were Robbie MacEwen (Charlottetown, PE) and Greg Proude (Springvale, PE).
Atlantic Tiltload Heat Races kicked off racing action for the Lucas Oil 150. Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS), Chris Hughes (Brackley Beach, PE) and Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) each picked up qualifying race victories. Robbie MacEwen took home the King Freight Future Winner Award with his fourth place finish. Waylon Farrell (Conception Bay South, NL) won the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Race Award.
The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour returns to action next Saturday at 5:00pm for the 19th edition of the prestigious Toromont Cat 250 at Scotia Speedworld.
