TURPLE WINS RON MACGILLIVRAY CHEV BUICK GMC 150 IN PHOTO FINISH
(Halifax, NS, June 16, 2018) –After swapping the lead three times in the final 107 laps of the race, Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) held off Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) by just 0.002 seconds to win the Ron MacGillivray Chevrolet Buick GMC 150 at Riverside International Speedway on Saturday night. Craig Slaunwhite (Terrence Bay, NS) got up on the wheel late in the race to overtake John Flemming (Halifax, NS) for his third consecutive third place finish on the season. Cornwall, PE’s Dylan Gosbee rounded out the top five with solid run.
Atlantic Tiltload Heat Races began the racing action for the Ron MacGillivray Chevrolet Buick GMC 150. Turple, Cole Butcher, Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS), and Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell, PE) each picked up qualifying race victories. Turple led the most laps (66) in a long race which saw 6 cautions that included 3 red flags.
Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth, NS) takes home the King Freight Future Winner Award with his first career Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour top five finish. Waylon Farrell (Conception Bay South, NL) picks up the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Race Award after finishing sixteenth in the main feature.
The NAPA Sportsman Series entertained fans for an exciting 75 lap feature prior to the Ron MacGillivray Chev Buick GMC 150 with Russell Smith Jr (Lakeside, NS) crossing the line for the checkered flag ahead of Matt Vaughan (Bedford, NS) and Frankie Fraser (Shubenacadie, NS).
The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour returns to Scotia Speedworld next weekend for the Nova Truck Centres Make A Wish 150 on Saturday, June 23rd at 6:00pm. Admission for Saturday’s Nova Truck Centres 150 is $25.00 for adults; $8.00 for youth; pit admission is $30.00. Children 7 and under are admitted for free.
