COLE BUTCHER WINS CUMMINS 150
AT SCOTIA SPEEDWORLD
(Halifax, NS, May 26, 2018) – Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) picked up his first victory of the season at the Cummins 150 this evening. Butcher took the lead from Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) for the final time on Lap 94 and stretched his lead over the final 57 green flag laps to take his first victory of the year. Blenkhorn was second, followed by Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS), Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) and Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS). Only the top five cars finished on the lead lap.
Four Atlantic Tiltload heat races set the starting grid for the Cummins 150. Cole Butcher, Blenkhorn, Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) and Cory Hall (Jolicure, NB) all picked up wins in the 10 lap heats. Jarrett Butcher was the recipient of the King Freight Lines Future Winner award with a solid fifth place finish and Waylon Farrell (Conception Bay South, NL) picked up his first Exide Batteries Rookie of the Race Award with a 16th place finish. The race was slowed by four caution periods and took 58 minutes to complete.
The Maritime League of Legends kicked-off their 2018 campaign prior to the Cummins 150 with the R&D Perforamancenter 50. Craig MacDonald (Waverly, NS) picked up the first victory of the season, veteran Danny Harvey (Lantz, NS) took second while Andrew Lively (Middle Sackville, NS) completed the podium.
The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will take a couple of weeks off before heading to the high banks of Riverside International Speedway on Saturday, June 16th for the Ron MacGillivray Chev, Buick, GMC 150. Atlantic Tiltload heat races are scheduled for 6:00pm. Reserved stadium seats are $30.00 (advance only), General Admission - Adults $25, Youth (16 to 18) $10, Student (8 to 15) $5, 7 and under free. Advance tickets will be available at www.RiversideSpeedway.ca next week or at the box office on race day.
