Cole Butcher Wins Cummins 150

Slaunwhite Wins East Coast International Pro Stock Tour Championship

(Halifax, NS – October 2, 2021) Cole Butcher (Hantsport, NS) picked up his fourth win of the season today at the Cummins 150.  Butcher was vying for his third championship but came up just short. Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth, NS) finished second and has had a breakout season. Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) fought his way through the field to finish third which was enough to clinch his first East Coast International Pro Stock Tour Championship. Russell Smith Jr (Lakeside, NS) and Kent Vincent (Crapaud, PE) both had fantastic showings and finished fourth and fifth respectively.

With today’s third-place finish Slaunwhite completes the season with a 32 point victory over Cole Butcher. Slaunwhite’s average finish in the shortened nine race season was second and he only missed the podium once this year. Slaunwhite, who won Rookie of the Year in 2008, has been racing the last 13 years in hopes of finally taking home the illustrious title of East Coast International Pro Stock Tour Champion.

Greg Proude (Springvale, PE), Russell Smith Jr (Lakeside, NS) and Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth, NS) won their Atlantic Tiltload heat races which set the field for the Cummins 150. Austin MacDonald (Pictou, NS) took home the Kenny U Pull Hard Charger award. The race was slowed by four cautions and took 52 minutes to complete.

Two CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series divisions warmed up the crowd prior to the Cummins 150. The Strictly Hydraulics Legends were up first. Dylan Dowe (Bedford, NS) took the checkers, his first major Legends victory of his young career.  Dowe was followed by Devin Wadden (Hammonds Plains, NS) and Nathan Langille (Coldbrook, NS). The Fleet Brake Atlantic Sportsman were next on the track for a 50-lap feature. Brandon Carter (Moncton, NB) finished first. Pete Miller (Kennetcook, NS) was second by inches over Darren Wallage (Oakfield, NS) in third.

That wraps up the unique 2021 East Coast International Pro Stock Tour Season. Congratulations to all the drivers and teams who competed this season. A huge thanks to all of our fans and sponsors who stuck it out during these pandemic times. The tour will return in 2022 for another season of the best racing in the Maritimes!
