Ken Cunning Stepping Down As General Manager
(Halifax, NS – March 3, 2022) After a 15-year tenure as General Manager of Scotia Speedworld and the Maritime Pro Stock Tour Ken Cunning will retire following the 2022 season. Dan MacLeod will step in as Assistant Manager for the upcoming season before taking over as General Manager for 2023 and beyond. MacLeod recently retired from his position as Regional Manager – Used & Heavy Rent Division at Atlantic Cat and is well versed in the Maritime racing community as a former sponsor and avid race fan.
“It was with reluctance that I submitted my resignation from Scotia Speedworld and Maritime Pro Stock Tour.” Said Ken Cunning. “I want to spend more time with my grandkids, I was missing so many notables it seemed. Still, it was hard decision to make. Dan MacLeod has experience in racing and business, he will do a great job.”
Cunning continued, “I want to thank all the teams that participated over the years. Great racers and people. The love of the sport was always there to see. To the Staff, I want to say a huge thank you. You do what you do for the love of the sport, and you do it well. Fans and racers don’t get to see what goes into hosting events. My thanks to each of you and my ever-lasting gratitude. I would also like to thank Cecil Vance and the late Harry Poole for giving me the opportunity back in 2005. I felt like a kid in a candy store. It didn’t take long to realize that they were huge fans and were doing what they did for the love of racing. I believe every team member should thank Cecil for everything he and Harry have done over the years.”
“Looking back the best thing about this job was getting to work with Ernie Ledwidge. The other benefit was getting to know Jim Hallahan, the God Father of racing - a better human being you could not meet.” Concluded Cunning.
