dylan blenkhorn wins Summer clash 250
(Halifax, NS – August 12, 2023) Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) returned to the track in style picking up a huge victory in the Summer Clash 250 presented by Superior Foundations and Atlantic Tiltload! Blenkhorn will pocket over $16,500 for the win plus contingencies. Blenkhorn who spent most of the race two laps down was awarded the Fast Eddie Racewear Lucky Dog twice to get back on the lead lap and used the old bump and run on the two front runners late in the race to pick up his first victory of the season. Defending Summer Clash 250 winner, Ashton Tucker (Miramichi, NB), led 145 laps throughout the race, but had to settle for second. Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth, NS) was a front runner from the drop of the green flag but Blenkhorn’s late lap pass left him in third. Russell Smith Jr (Lakeside, NS) had another solid finish coming home fourth. Current series point leader Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) took the Pole Challenge and started scratch on the field but rallied to finish fifth.
Cory Hall (Jolicure, NB) sat on the pole for Summer Clash 250 after setting a blistering speed of 14.131 in the Top Construction Time Trials. Ashton Tucker (Miramichi, NB) was also on the front row after turning the second fastest lap. The remaining teams competed in Atlantic Tiltload Heat Races. Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS), Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) and Danny Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) won their respective races which set the field for Summer Clash 250.
Slaunwhite took home the Kenny U Pull Hard Charger award. Jordan Veinotte (Porter’s Lake, NS) was Rookie of the Race. With his 154 led laps, Tucker won the R&D Performance Centre Most Laps Led award. Naugle wins $1,000 for leading at half-way courtesy of A&W Burnside and Eastern Passage.
The Heart of Champion Vintage Race Car Series put on a fantastic show for fans prior to the Summer Clash 250. The race as won by Jeff Ainslie (Beaver Bank, NS).
The Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends raced a 50 lap feature with Dawson Noble (Upper Nine Mile River) crossing the finish line first. Gage Gilby (Enfield, NS) was second with Nathan Blackburn (Timberlea, NS) in third.
