Slaunwhite Makes History With 3rd Consecutive Championship

(Halifax, NS – September 23, 2023) Ashton Tucker (Lyttleton, NB) won the Season Finale - Tirecraft 200 tonight at Scotia Speedworld. The win is the second of the season for Tucker. Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) finished second and secured the 2023 East Coast International Pro Stock Tour Championship. Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) applied pressure on Slaunwhite all afternoon but had to settle for third in the race and second in the championship chase. Russell Smith Jr. (Lakeside, NS) had another top-five finish, coming home fourth in the Tirecraft 200.  Young gun Austin MacDonald had another great performance and finished fifth.

It's back-to-back-to-back championships for Slaunwhite as he becomes the first driver ever to win three consecutive championships in Series history. Slaunwhite only needed a 17th place finish to clinch his third title but in true championship style he was on the track today hunting another checkered flag. Slaunwhite receives $15,000 from the East Coast International Point Fund and a championship ring commissioned by Inglis Jewelers.

Jordan Veinotte (Dartmouth, NS) is officially the Lucas Oil Rookie of the Year. Veinotte had mechanical issues taking him out of the Tirecraft 200 early, but the team had a great season finishing 8th in the overall championship standings.

Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS), Smith Jr. and Slaunwhite won their Atlantic Tiltload heat races which set the field for the Tirecraft 200. Mark LeClair (Brackley Beach, PE) took home the Kenny U Pull Hard Charger and the Fast Eddie Lucky Dog Award.  Slaunwhite led the most laps today, so he also picks up the R&D Performance Centre Most Laps Led Award. Colton Noble (Nine Mile River, NS) was the Rookie of the Race.

The Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends ran their season finale prior to the Tirecraft 200. Gage Gilby (Enfield, NS) won the 50-lap feature followed by Josh Langille (Cold Brook, NS) and Nathan Blackburn (Halifax, NS). Gage Gilby is the 2023 Maritime League of Legends Champion. Chase MacKay (Halifax, NS) wins the 2023 Rookie of the Year.

For the first time in over 20 years, the Street Stocks hit the track at Scotia Speedworld. The Return of the Street Stocks saw an incredible battle between eventual winner Michael Cormier (Grand-Barachois, NB) and Riley Goodwin (McAdam, NB). Martin Landry (Scoudouc, NB) charged hard late in the race to finish third. Mitchell Arsenault (Summerside, PE) and Dennis Nickerson (Marshy Hope, NS) took home heat races in the 11-car field.

The Tirecraft 200 concludes the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour 2023 Season. Championship spoils will be handed out on October 21st at the annual awards banquet. We would like to thank all of our loyal fans and sponsors for their support this season! The Pro Stock Tour will return to action next Spring!
