Exide Batteries Rookie Preview: #15 Frankie Fraser

Two iconic names in Maritime Stock Car Racing will combine in 2012 for what is expected to be an exciting ride around Atlantic Canada with the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. The names Alexander and Fraser have perked the ears of area race fans for generations and this season with Frankie Fraser at the helm of the car emblazoned with the number, colors and sponsors the Alexander family has ran on many of their race cars in past seasons, those names are bound to turn heads once again!

Shubenacadie’s Fraser may be classified as a rookie on the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour in 2012, but his vast regional racing resume full of accomplishments would beg to differ. You do not have to look far in the rear view mirror to see championship and race trophies from the region’s biggest races and sanctioning bodies. His successes don’t stop on the track though as he has multiple race wins on his resume without Fraser himself being in the driver’s seat.

In recent years, Fraser has been lighting up the Sportsman ranks at the helm of the famous Scott Fraser Racing (SFR) #0 Chevrolet. Not only did Fraser capture the 2009 NAPA Sportsman Series championship at Riverside International Speedway, he captured many feature wins with the series in extended races at Riverside and at Petty International Raceway. In addition to the NAPA Sportsman Series, he currently holds the record for most wins in the Sportsman 100 at Scotia Speedworld with three, possesses a 100-lap feature win at Shediac’s Centre for Speed and has a second place finish in the point standings at the former Moosehead Speedway in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Countless regular main feature victory trophies can also be found on the mantle in the Fraser home.

Fraser’s success doesn’t stop on the track, but also is evident in the pit area. He has called the shots as crew chief for big names such as Johnny Benson, Cy Harvey, Doug Stokes and his father Frank Fraser Sr. Frankie has also turned wrenches all up the east coast on cars for Craig Slaunwhite, Shawn Turple, his father and late brother Scott Fraser among others. His resume includes working on cars from various series, including the American Canadian Tour, Pro All Stars Series, NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and NASCAR K&N East Series.

When you pair Fraser with the knowledge of Scott Alexander on the box calling the shots, you have many ingredients within the two that go into the recipe of success. Alexander knows what it takes to be successful behind the wheel of a Pro Stock car and with his voice on the radio helping guide the #15 Chebucto Ford/R&R Kinsman Auto Salvage Ford Fusion around the track, it should lead this combination to the front of the field.

The tandem will have their first shot at glory on Sunday as the Tour kick starts their 2012 season at Scotia Speedworld in the CARQUEST 100. Racing begins at 4pm with Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials going green at 3:10pm.
