Smith and Slaunwhite Nominated For ITMN Readers' Choice Awards
Racers with the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour have shown once again that they are on top of the racing game in North America. Inside Track Motorsport News, the ?Official Publication of Canadian Motorsports?, has come forth with their annual Readers' Choice Awards and two of our drivers have been given nods! Wayne Smith (Timberlea, NS) and Craig Slaunwhite (Terance Bay, NS) will be pitted against some of the finest wheelmen in the country in two of the stock car racing categories.
?The Oval Outlaw? has been nominated for Canadian Stock Car Racer of the Year. Smith is up against Patrick Leperle (ACT Champ), Scott Steckly (NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Champ), Trevor Emond (ARCA West Champ), Chris Raabe (Mr. DIRTcar and Multi-time Track Champ) and Glenn Watson (OSCAAR Outlaw SLM Champ). Smith tallied up three wins on the CARQUEST Tour this past season, including a win at the Forbes 150 at Scotia Speedworld en route to his second MPST crown and a record tying fifth Maritime Racing Championship!
Slaunwhite followed up a strong '08 campaign with a nomination from ITMN editors for the ?Up and Coming Canadian Stock Car Racer of the Year.? Slaunwhite finished fourth in points following the eleven race schedule. He amassed two wins including the season finale Parts For Trucks 200 at Scotia Speedworld, a track the EIT Race Radio Rookie of the Year Champion won two Sportsman division titles at prior to his rookie year on the tour. Slaunwhite is up against some stiff competition including Jimmy Cormier (Super Trucks Champion), Scott Dennis (ARCA West Race Winner), Steven Matthews (Sportsman Cup Race Winner), Billy Melenhorst (Barrie Speedway Charger Champ and ROTY) and B.J. Clark (Hythe Motor Speedway I.M.C.A. Champ).

MMHF Holding P.E.I. Meeting on February 28th
There is a meeting for anyone interested in getting involved in the Maritime Motorsport Hall of Fame this Saturday, February 28th at the Howard Johnson Dutch Inn at North River on Prince Edward Island.
